The Shaanxi Y-8 (Chinese: 运-8) is a Chinese multipurpose transport aircraft manufactured by Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation. Developed from the Soviet Antonov An-12 military transport aircraft, the Y-8 has been produced in numerous variants designed for a wide range of missions. Kazakhstan signed a contract to purchase eight aircraft on April 21, 2018. The first aircraft was officially presented in Astana on September 27, 2018. By the summer of 2025, Kazakhstan's Y-8 fleet had expanded to six aircraft, including a batch of three (bearing aircraft numbers 04, 05, and 06) delivered between July and August 2025. The remaining two aircraft were expected to be delivered at a later date. The primary operators of the Y-8 in Kazakhstan are the National Guard and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
