Fire on the Ili River
43 photosWildfires in the delta of the Ili River, one of Kazakhstan's major waterways, are primarily caused by human activity. Local residents use fire to clear vegetation and create grazing land for livestock. Such fires are extremely difficult to control. In almost all cases, they spread into protected natural areas, causing extensive damage to local wildlife, vegetation, and fragile ecosystems.
