Nuclear Physics Institute
28 photosThe Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP) is Kazakhstan's leading scientific research centre specialising in fundamental and applied research in nuclear physics, nuclear energy, and radiation technologies. Key Research Facilities and Production Capabilities WWR-K Nuclear Reactor – A research reactor with a thermal power output of 6 MW, operational since 1967. Particle Accelerators – The Institute operates several charged-particle accelerators, including the U-150M, DC-60 (at its Astana branch), and Cyclone-30 cyclotrons, as well as electrostatic accelerators. Production – The Institute produces approximately 85% of all radiopharmaceuticals manufactured in Kazakhstan, along with sources of ionising radiation. International Cooperation – The Institute actively collaborates with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR).
